I’ve always been energized by travel. Overland trips are my favorite: road, rail, boots, snowshoes…. closely followed by sailing passages over the high seas. It’s fair to say I strongly prefer pampered travel – I don’t camp, lug heavy rucksacks (apart from backpacking across Australia in my youth!) or eat foraged food.
So, to further nourish this thrill of travel, I’m embarking on the biggest journey of my life: The Voyage – my solopreneurship trek.
Wind back 12 months – I’m a senior corporate bot with limited quality personal time. Unexpectedly at the start of this year I was gifted time (details for another blog article). Having been jettisoned into the world of “time rich”, I knew this was my moment to harvest this generous gift of time. So, after 30 years of being a corporate bot, I continually pinch myself – do I really have all this time? Say it out loud – TIME – you precious, joyous, valuable, rewarding commodity. Who knew!
So, via another shortcut (again details for another blog post), I’m stepping into the world of solopreneurship as a digital surface designer.
Have I ever been a solopreneur?
Have I ever sold anything I’ve made from scratch?
Have I ever trained or qualified as a digital designer?
No, no, no – however I can say a big resounding YES to the following – business acumen, curiosity, and determination – and some crossed fingers.
From now I will be sharing my voyage – The Voyage – into solopreneurship: an honest, insightful, transparent, amusing (hopefully) story of my expedition into the unknown – the good and bad: all of the getting lost, the big bears jumping out and startling me from behind trees, the frost bite, the collapsing tents, the depleting food rations and holes in the boots, alongside the endless vistas of paradise, the glistening snowy mountain peaks, the deepest blue lakes with gentle ripples……. Ok – you get it. There’s going to be ups and downs, failures and triumphs, rewards and punishments, vulnerabilities, and strengths.
And in the spirit of my passion to lead from behind, and empowering others, The Voyage will be your “go to” place to learn from and get inspired by me. I will be sharing tips and tricks and opening the doors into the murky world of my Studio to help you accelerate your own trek into a creative world.So, let’s get the map, strap on the boots and start The Voyage…
